A positioning diagnostic for the brand inside Google AI Overviews. Where AI puts HubSpot, what it leaves out, and the moves that update the model.
HubSpot is one of the strongest brand presences in Google AI Overviews for CRM and marketing software. It is named in almost every CRM answer, alongside Salesforce.
The reach is genuine. AIO appears on 33 of 40 non-branded keywords, an 82% trigger rate, and the brand's /products/crm page alone is cited in 60 AIO answers.
Two things hold HubSpot back. AIO frames the brand using the legacy SMB inbound story, not the current AI-powered customer platform. And on the highest-volume terms it ranks for, like content marketing and email marketing, it earns the ranking but not the citation.
AIO calls HubSpot an SMB inbound CRM with a free tier. The website now sells an AI-powered customer platform with Smart CRM, six hubs, and Breeze AI.
The /products/crm page is cited in 60 AIO answers. Ten more hubspot.com pages are each cited eight or more times. Few brands earn this much.
On head terms like content marketing and email marketing, HubSpot ranks page one but the Overview is built without it. The ceiling is here.
Rewrite the homepage and pillar pages so AIO re-attributes HubSpot as the AI-powered customer platform with Smart CRM and six hubs.
Publish answer-shaped landing pages for each hub and for Breeze AI so each becomes its own AIO-citable named entity.
Restructure pages for content marketing, email marketing, marketing automation, and brand strategy so the Overview can extract HubSpot.

| Cluster | How AIO frames HubSpot | Triggering queries |
|---|---|---|
| CRM software | Default reference alongside Salesforce. Best for SMB and marketing integration. | best crm, examples of crm programs, most used crm, crm for small business |
| Free CRM | Named as the top free option. HubSpot is inside the Overview. | free crm, free crm software |
| Inbound marketing | HubSpot is inside the Overview. Owns the concept. | inbound marketing, what is inbound marketing |
| Email and content marketing | HubSpot ranks page one. Overview is built without it. | email marketing, content marketing, email marketing campaigns |
| Marketing automation | Listed as one option among several. Often outside the Overview. | marketing automation, marketing software |
| KMS / customer service AI | Emerging association via HubSpot AI. | kms examples, customer service software |
| Hub-level products | Absent. Hubs are not surfaced as named entities. | marketing hub, sales hub, service hub, content hub |
| Breeze AI / AI agents | Absent. The current AI brand has no AIO footprint yet. | breeze ai, ai agents for sales |
| Enterprise CRM | Absent. HubSpot is consistently filed as SMB or SMB to mid. | best enterprise crm, enterprise crm software |
AIO files HubSpot as SMB or SMB to mid. The documented mid-market and enterprise expansion has no AIO footprint.
Each hub is missing as a named entity. Buyers searching for Marketing Hub or Service Hub do not see HubSpot positioned there.
The current AI positioning has effectively zero AIO presence. The brand's biggest 2024 to 2026 narrative is absent.
| Keyword | Monthly volume | HubSpot organic position | In the Overview? |
|---|---|---|---|
| performance analytics | 1,150,000 | 19 | No |
| content marketing | 495,000 | 5 | No |
| how to start a blog | 318,000 | 17 | No |
| target audience | 185,000 | 10 | No |
| social media marketing | 147,000 | 5 | No |
| innovative marketing campaigns 2025 examples | 141,000 | 9 | No |
| email marketing | 86,000 | 7 | No |
| email marketing campaigns | 39,000 | 3 | No |
| knowledge management systems | 33,000 | 9 | No |
| marketing automation | 18,000 | 4 | No |
| brand strategy | 11,000 | 3 | No |
| customer feedback surveys | 17,000 | 1 | Yes |
| inbound marketing | 12,000 | 1 | Yes |
| free crm | 7,500 | 1 | Yes |
HubSpot ranks as high as position three to five on terms like email marketing campaigns and content marketing, yet the Overview is built without it. The volume on these terms dwarfs the volume on the three keywords where it is included.
| Cited page on hubspot.com | Responses citing |
|---|---|
| www.hubspot.com/products/crm | 60 |
| www.hubspot.com/pricing/marketing | 14 |
| www.hubspot.com/email-signature-generator | 13 |
| www.hubspot.com/products/marketing/email | 12 |
| legal.hubspot.com/hubspot-product-and-services-catalog | 12 |
| www.hubspot.com/products/crm/small-business | 11 |
| www.hubspot.com/products | 9 |
| www.hubspot.com/products/crm/starter | 9 |
| www.hubspot.com/pricing/crm | 8 |
| www.hubspot.com/products/marketing | 8 |
| www.hubspot.com/products/marketing/marketing-automation-information | 8 |
Two patterns. CRM is the single biggest citation driver. Pricing and product-catalogue pages are pulled into AIO unusually often, which suggests pricing transparency is rewarded.
| Topic cluster | Association strength | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| CRM (default reference) | Strong | Named in essentially every CRM answer, paired with Salesforce. |
| Free CRM | Strong | HubSpot is inside the Overview on free crm. |
| Inbound marketing | Strong | Owns the concept. In the Overview on inbound marketing. |
| Marketing automation | Medium | Named as a feature of HubSpot. Sometimes outside the Overview. |
| Email marketing | Light to medium | Ranks page one. Overview built from other sources. |
| Content marketing | Light to medium | Ranks page one. Overview built from other sources. |
| Customer service / KMS | Light, emerging | HubSpot AI starting to appear as a KMS entity. |
| Marketing Hub / Sales Hub / Service Hub | Invisible | Hubs not surfaced as named entities. |
| Breeze AI | Invisible | No AIO footprint yet. |
| Enterprise CRM | Invisible | Consistently filed as SMB or SMB to mid. |
| Stage | Coverage | Reading |
|---|---|---|
| Problem-aware ("how to do email marketing") | Strong | HubSpot's blog and academy pages rank widely. Overview inclusion is selective. |
| Solution-aware ("what is inbound marketing") | Strong | HubSpot's pillar pages are the canonical source. |
| Comparison ("best crm", "best marketing software") | Strong | Named in almost every comparison answer. |
| Alternatives ("hubspot alternatives") | Likely strong, not in sample | Branded queries were excluded from this pass. |
| Hub or product-line ("marketing hub vs sales hub") | None observed | Hub product names do not surface in AIO. |
| Vertical ("crm for real estate") | Light | Salesforce and niche tools dominate these clusters. |
Two views from outside the brand. Which domains AIO trusts for this category, and which tools it names when answering category questions.
| # | Domain | Responses citing | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | www.youtube.com | 250 | Tutorial and explainer content |
| 2 | www.reddit.com | 211 | Community discussion threads |
| 3 | www.salesforce.com | 153 | Authority explainer. Owns the category framing |
| 4 | monday.com | 122 | Best CRM listicles |
| 5 | www.hubspot.com | 108 | HubSpot's own pages, cited as sources |
| 6 | zapier.com | 81 | Best tools roundups |
| 7 | www.zendesk.com | 70 | Customer service authority |
| 8 | www.creatio.com | 64 | Best CRM listicles |
| 9 | www.nutshell.com | 54 | CRM vendor blog roundups |
| 10 | www.uschamber.com | 51 | Low-cost CRM listicle |
| 11 | solutionsreview.com | 49 | Best CRM listicles |
| 12 | www.forbes.com | 46 | Best CRM editorial |

| 14 | www.g2.com | 33 | Review hub |
| 15 | www.ibm.com | 30 | Authority explainer |
Two observations. HubSpot.com is the only vendor in the top five cited domains. The listicles AIO leans on come from Monday, Zapier, Forbes, PCMag, Solutions Review, and a long tail of CRM-vendor blogs.
monday.com, zapier.com, solutionsreview.com, uschamber.com, insiderone.com, capsulecrm.com. These run the CRM listicles AIO quotes most. Refresh existing inclusions and add Breeze AI mentions.
pcmag.com, forbes.com. Best-CRM editorial AIO treats as authoritative. Update positioning.
g2.com, gartner.com, capterra. Review hubs that feed both AIO and buyer research. Keep HubSpot reviews fresh and current.
youtube.com and reddit.com drive a quarter of AIO citations in this category. Tutorials and authentic community presence compound.
| Peer | Cluster | How AIO frames the relationship |
|---|---|---|
| Salesforce | Enterprise CRM | The default reference point. Paired with HubSpot in nearly every CRM answer. |
| Pipedrive | Sales-first CRM | Named for visual deal pipelines and sales-focused teams. |
| Zoho CRM | Budget CRM | Named for cost-effectiveness and built-in AI assistant. |
| Monday CRM | Project-management CRM | Named for customisation and visual workflows. |
| Freshsales (Freshworks) | SMB CRM | Named for AI-driven lead scoring and a simple interface. |
| Microsoft Dynamics 365 | Microsoft ecosystem | Named when buyers are inside Microsoft. |
| Creatio | Low-code AI CRM | Named for workflow automation and low-code. |
| Zendesk Sell | Service-led sales | Named when service and sales overlap. |
| Mailchimp | Email marketing | Named in email marketing answers as the SMB default. |
| Less Annoying, Insightly, Nutshell, Nimble, OnePageCRM, Capsule, Keap, Copper | Mid-tier CRM tail | Named in the long tail of best-CRM listicles. |
| HubSpot | SMB inbound CRM | Anchor of the SMB tier. Paired with Salesforce as the default top two. |
AIO consistently anchors the CRM category on the Salesforce and HubSpot pair, with everything else as alternatives. HubSpot has earned the top-two slot in Google's mental model. The unfinished work is being named in the answers it does not yet appear in. Enterprise CRM. AI agents. The hub-specific clusters.
AIO frames HubSpot using the legacy SMB inbound story. Rewrite the homepage and the platform pillar page so AIO re-attributes the brand as the AI-powered customer platform built on Smart CRM, with six hubs and Breeze AI.
Lead with a one-paragraph definition that includes those entities by name. Add answer-shaped capability blocks and current scale stats. 228,000+ customers, 135+ countries.
None of the six hubs surface in AIO. Publish or rewrite a dedicated landing page for each hub and for Breeze AI. Open each with a one-paragraph definition and an FAQ that mirrors real questions. Cross-link to /products/crm so the Smart CRM stays the anchor.
HubSpot ranks page one on content marketing, email marketing, social media marketing, marketing automation, target audience, brand strategy, and email marketing campaigns, yet the Overview is built without it. Restructure each page with a clean definitional intro, a comparison table, and an FAQ.
HubSpot is absent from best AI customer platform, AI agents for sales, AI agents for marketing, best enterprise CRM, best commerce platform, and best RevOps software answers. Publish answer-shaped pillar pages for each.
Most category answers are built from listicles on Monday, Zapier, Forbes, PCMag, Solutions Review, and competitor-vendor blogs. Reach out to refresh existing placements with current Breeze AI mentions and pursue inclusion where HubSpot is missing. Keep G2, Gartner, and Capterra reviews current.

Google AI Overviews and search-intelligence data captured via premium tools. US country setting.
HubSpot's top 40 non-branded organic keywords were analysed for whether an Overview appears and whether HubSpot is inside it. Category AIO answers were read directly to capture identity descriptors, cited sources, and the peers AIO names. The brand-side identity is grounded in HubSpot's public positioning as of 2026.
This is a brand-only diagnostic, so peers are observed, not benchmarked. It covers Google AI Overviews only. Branded queries were excluded from the keyword pass to prevent inflated trigger and inclusion counts.
It does not benchmark share of voice against competitors, and it does not connect to live search-console clickstream data. Both are available as add-ons and are recommended for the next cycle.
