GEO agencies get brands mentioned and cited by AI assistants: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini. This directory ranks 52 of them on evidence: the case studies each agency publishes, a ten-capability scorecard graded against public proof, and third-party sources like verified Clutch and G2 reviews and the Reddit threads where buyers name agencies. Every number traces to a page you can open.
Six curated shortlists drawn from the evidence grades, each with a line on why the agency earned its spot. They update as new agencies enter the directory.
Three rules decide inclusion:
Prices in other currencies are converted to US dollars at approximate rates and used only for filtering. Confirm current pricing and scope with each agency before signing anything.
Each profile page also carries a capability scorecard: ten capabilities, from AI content to prompt analytics, graded 1 to 5 against public evidence on the agency's own site. A 1 means no public evidence was found, which happens for services an agency delivers without writing about them. Profiles also quote up to three case studies the agency publishes, with the agency's own numbers.
Disclosure: I run AUQ, which appears in this directory. It is listed under the same three rules as everyone else, and the sort order gives it no preference.

A GEO agency increases how often AI assistants mention and cite a brand. The work covers tracking visibility across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews, publishing content structured for citation, earning brand mentions on the pages assistants already pull from, and fixing technical issues that block AI crawlers.
In my experience the mentions work matters as much as anything on a client's own site. Assistants name brands they have seen named elsewhere, so presence in ranking listicles and community threads moves results faster than most teams expect.
Published GEO retainers in this directory start between $1,600 and $10,000 per month, and the large majority of agencies price on request. One-off GEO audits are commonly sold in the $400 to $5,000 range.
Budget as you would for serious SEO. The deliverables overlap heavily: content, digital PR, and technical fixes, with AI visibility tracking layered on top.
Specialists tend to have better measurement tooling and sharper opinions on what moves AI citations. Wider agencies bring existing SEO infrastructure, which matters because most GEO gains still run through the same pages search engines rank.
My take, as a specialist with an obvious bias: if your classic SEO is already handled, hire a specialist for the GEO layer. If you are starting from zero on organic, a wider agency that treats GEO seriously will cover more ground per dollar.
SEO targets rankings in search results pages. GEO targets presence inside AI-generated answers, where the unit of success is a mention or citation rather than a position. The two share most of their inputs: crawlable pages, clear direct answers, and authority built through links and mentions.
In our client work at AUQ the overlap is the point. The fraud.net engagement produced 1,230 AI Overview citations and a 5.6% AI share of voice, and the pages that earned those citations were built with ordinary SEO discipline plus answer-first formatting.
GEO scopes vary widely, and most agencies prefer to price after seeing the site, the category, and the competition. Agencies without published prices appear under every budget filter here so they stay visible.
I'd treat an unpublished price as neutral. A published floor is useful for filtering, and that is the only extra credit it earns in this directory.
AUQ runs GEO audits that measure how AI assistants currently represent your brand: trigger rate, citation rate, and share of voice against named competitors. Useful before you brief any agency on this list, including us.
